چکیده
This study presents a new methodology for identifying near-optimal sensor locations contaminant source tracing in river networks. We define an optimal placement as one that enables the best overall reconstruction of concentrations from observed data. To establish physical basis problem, we first derive linear time-invariant (LTI) model riverine transport using one-dimensional advection-reaction-diffusion equation. then formulate optimization problem to find maximizes observability modeled system and identify two heuristics efficiently achieving this goal. By evaluating each strategy on its ability reconstruct initial loads outputs, is obtained by maximizing rank LTI system's Observability Gramian. both magnitudes distributions nonpoint-source contaminants. Our will enable researchers build networks better interpolate pollutant ungauged locations, improve identification, inform more effective pollution control strategies.

Robust optimization of contaminant sensor placement for community water systems
We present a series of related robust optimization models for placing sensors in municipal water networks to detect contaminants that are maliciously or accidentally injected. We formulate sensor placement problems as mixed-integer programs, for which the objective coefficients are not known with certainty. We consider a restricted absolute robustness criteria that is motivated by natural restr...
متن کاملRelay sensor placement in wireless sensor networks
This paper addresses the following relay sensor placement problem: given the set of duty sensors in the plane and the upper bound of the transmission range, compute the minimum number of relay sensors such that the induced topology by all sensors is globally connected. This problem is motivated by practically considering the tradeoff among performance, lifetime, and cost when designing sensor n...
متن کاملDesign and evaluation of two distributed methods for sensors placement in Wireless Sensor Networks
Adequate coverage is one of the main problems for distributed wireless sensor networks and The effectiveness of that highly depends on the sensor deployment scheme. Given a finite number of sensors, optimizing the sensor deployment will provide sufficient sensor coverage and save power of sensors for movement to target location to adequate coverage. In this paper, we apply fuzzy logic system to...

We study the problem of sensor placement for maximum structural fault detection and isolation in systems with a graphical structure. In particular, we consider flow networks and sensor networks. We are interested in placing as few sensors as possible. We get efficient approximation algorithms and exact algorithms for computing a smallest sensor set for maximum structural fault detectability and...
